Mark Bryan, lead guitarist and founding member of Hootie and the Blowfish, is teaching the Arts Management Program’s Introduction to Music Management course at the College of Charleston’s School of the Arts this fall. The class was created when both music and non-music students expressed an interest in understanding the workings of the music industry
College of Charleston professor Edward Hart’s original composition “Three Latin Rivers” will be played October 8 by the Charleston Symphony Orchestra as the opening to the Backstage Pass Series. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Memminger Auditorium. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $5 for students.
The College of Charleston men’s and women’s basketball teams will host “Maroon Madness” on Friday, Oct. 16th , at 7:30 p.m. at Carolina First Arena. The event, which features scrimmages by both teams, is free and open to the public.

The College of Charleston’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team is helping to launch an oyster shell recycling program for Charleston area restaurants. According to The Nature Conservancy, more than 3 million pounds of oysters sold in South Carolina each year are bought by restaurants and an $8,000 grant will start a pilot recycling program.
