Washington Post War Correspondent Thomas Ricks will present a lecture entitled “The American Military Adventures in Iraq” at the College of Charleston on February 18, 2010.  The speech will be held in Physicians Auditorium starting at 7 p.m.

Ricks is the author of Fiasco: The American Military Adventure in Iraq, 2003-05, which was a New York Times bestseller and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2007. His second bestselling book on that war, The Gamble: General Petraeus and the American Military Adventure in Iraq, 2006-08 was published last year.

He is the Washington Post’s special military correspondent and a member of two Pulitzer Prize-wining teams for national reporting.  In addition, Ricks is a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security and a contributing editor at Foreign Policy magazine.

His speech is sponsored by the College of Charleston’s Political Science Department.

The lecture is free and open to the public.  Ricks will be signing copies of his books after the talk.
