College of Charleston invites new students to come early for the fall 2010 semester to get to know each other and the City of Charleston. Summer Preview will take place from August 17-21 and students can choose from one of several themes.

  • Discover Charleston – An outdoor experience involving mountain biking, climbing walls, and the great outdoors! (15 spots)
  • Pre-Med – Interested in pre-med? Join this theme to meet faculty, engage in a learning experience at MUSC, and find out more about the pre-Professional health programs at CofC. (16 spots)
  • First Year Service Experience – Want to give back to your new community? Work with non-profit agencies through our Center for Civic Engagement with other students who have similar interests. (10 spots)
  • Diving into Charleston – Marine biology an interest? Like the ocean or want to work at the SC Aquarium? This theme puts you on the water, in the marshes, and behind the scenes at the aquarium. (12 spots)
  • Sports Marketing – Work in the sports industry for three days! Meet executives from the Charleston Riverdogs’ baseball team and be directly involved in marketing the SC Stingrays’ hockey team. (12 spots)
  • Girls’ Week Out – Enjoy Charleston and what it has to offer! Go to the spa for an afternoon, hang out downtown, and have dinner with professional women on campus. (12 spots)

“Summer Preview is a great way for students to start their career at the College of Charleston,” says Mindy Miley, assistant vice president for new student programs. “Last year all the programs filled long before summer was over and students raved about the experience they had.”
