The full-time, accelerated MBA program (pending SACS approval)  designed by the College of Charleston School of Business represents the latest trend in graduate business degrees.  There are only 90 accredited, accelerated MBA programs in the world and the School of Business is pleased to join this rank by offering a high quality, rigorous program.

“The School of Business provides a significant opportunity for MBA students in our region to prepare for a career in global business,” says Marc Chardon, president and CEO of Blackbaud.  “The intensive, hands-on curriculum is reflective of the corporate world, at a pace that is expected in any innovative, growing organization.”

While accelerated MBA programs have been in Europe for some time, they are becoming increasingly more popular in the U.S. and other global regions.  Research shows that the rapid, intensive timeframe gives ambitious students what they need to boost their careers faster than traditional MBA programs.

The results of a Wall Street Journal student survey on accelerated MBA programs were published on September 16, 2009.  The survey reveals the significant determining factors for students who chose an accelerated MBA program.

–    82% of respondents pursued a fast-track MBA because of their ability to re-enter the work force faster.

–    74% of students indicated that an international focus was one of their top selection criteria.

The School of Business MBA program is designed based on the latest research and market trends, as well as the accomplished faculty who will be teaching the tailored curriculum.  The majority of the MBA faculty has lived, worked and taught overseas and brings the global perspective to the classroom.

The full-time, day, MBA program will start this summer with its first cohort of up to 35 students and finish in August 2011.  For more information, visit www.mba.cofc.edu.
