The College of Charleston is celebrating the 11th Annual Darwin Week in Charleston from February 7-12, 2011.  This longstanding event will bring differing perspectives to honor Darwin’s immense contributions to science and the world.

Featured speaker will be Philosopher of Science professor Robert T. Pennock from Michigan State University. His book Tower of Babel: The Evidence against the New Creationism was called the “best book on creationism in all its guises” by the New York Review of Books.

Event lectures include:

· The Creation-Evolution Controversy: How did we get into this mess?
· Kill the Peacemakers: The Challenges of Reconciling Science and Religion
· Evolution in Action: Observing Evolutionary Processes in Real Time
· Does Science Make Belief in God Harder or Easier?
· Evolutionary Mechanics of Movement and Communication in the Sea

The events are free and will be held at various venues across Charleston.
