The College of Charleston English Language Institute will host a special three-week seminar designed to enhance the English language skills of non-native speakers as well as highlight U.S. culture and arts in the Lowcountry from June 25 through July 19, 2012.

Classroom instruction will consist of reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and accent modification.  Cultural experiences will include trips to the Charleston Museum, Old Exchange Building and Dungeon, Heyward Washington House, Joseph Manigault Mansion, historic churches, as well as a local theatre performance, trolley tours and city walks.  Both classroom instructional time and field trips will focus on the English language skills needed in academic, professional and personal settings.

Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. in the College of Charleston’s Thaddeus Street Jr. Education Center (25 St. Philip St.). The total cost for the 75 hours of instruction, tuition, fees, admission tickets, books and supplies is $1,355. The application deadline for this seminar is June 18.
