Former College of Charleston baseball player and current major leaguer Michael Kohn was back in Charleston on Wednesday delivering Thanksgiving meals to those in need.

Kohn worked with local volunteers from the Mitchell School District to help identify 20 families in need with children that attend Mitchell Math & Science Elementary on peninsular Charleston. On Wednesday morning, Kohn purchased and hand-delivered Thanksgiving meals to those families.

“Thanksgiving is a time for giving back,” Kohn said. “I’ve been very fortunate and wanted to find an opportunity to do something for families in Charleston. This is a community that I love and will always keep coming back to, no matter where I end up working and playing baseball.”

Playing for the Cougar baseball team from 2007-08, Kohn was a position player before making the transition to relief pitcher his final season.

He was drafted in the 13th round of the 2008 draft as a pitcher by the L.A. Angels and made his major league debut on July 26, 2010 against the Boston Red Sox and holds a 2-1 career record. He spent the entire 2012 season the disabled list due to Tommy John surgery.
