Beginning this week, students at the College of Charleston can take the edge off the stress of final exams by participating in activities like zumba, yoga, massages and coffee-infused study breaks. The two week event, also known as the Cougar Countdown, is designed to give students academic, physical, and emotional support and continues through the last day of Exam Week on December 12, 2012. This is the third year offices and individuals in Academic Affairs and Student Affairs have worked together to host Cougar Countdown. “Our goal continues to be the promotion of a healthy, balanced lifestyle to counteract the needlessly hectic and stressful image of Exam Week,” says Lindy Coleman, the Associate Director of the Center for Student Learning. “This year our theme is Conquer Your Exams!, and we encourage students to do just that—take control of exam week by studying, resting, exercising, and relaxing.”

Cougar Countdown highlights include free coffee every morning during Exam Week and “Pancakes with the President”, which will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on December 7, 2012 at Rivers Green. Think President Benson can make pancakes in the shape of a cougar?? The only way to find out is to show up—the President and his Executive Team will be whipping up breakfast for everyone!

Another Cougar Countdown favorite is “Puppies on the Green”, which will also be held on December 7 at Rivers Green from noon until 3:00 p.m. Pet Helpers will be there with some adorable, “pet-able” pets! Nothing says stress relief like having a puppy on your lap!

Posters with the entire calendar of events can be found at the entrances of the Addlestone Library, the Stern Center, and the Education Center. You can also visit http://cougarcountdown.cofc.edu or contact Lindy Coleman at colemanm@cofc.edu or 843.953.8180.
