Chloe TonneyChloe Tonney, senior vice president for external affairs at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Foundation will be the featured speaker at The Graduate School of the College of Charleston Commencement Ceremony on May 10, 2013.  The ceremony will be held in the College of Charleston’s TD Arena starting at 5:30 p.m.

Tonney, a 1984 graduate of the College, joined the CDC Foundation staff in 2002. As senior vice president for external affairs, she is responsible for overseeing the private‐sector fundraising program of the Foundation and the entire cycle of effective fundraising, impactful program implementation and stewardship. She is also responsible for developing, building and implementing public‐private sector partner strategies with national and international partners and Foundation advocates.
Tonney has 28 years of overall nonprofit advancement, strategy and management experience, with more than 24 years specifically in higher education and in building scientific public‐private partnerships. She was instrumental in the formation of the CDC Foundation’s first coalition‐based activity – the Safe Injection Practices Coalition (SIPC), housed at the CDC Foundation since 2008 – ringing together public, private and philanthropic partners to address this critical public health issue.

More than 130 students will receive degrees during the ceremony.
