Less than a week has passed since 2014 Spring Undergraduate Commencement.

But if you’re already feeling nostalgic and pressed for time, you can relive the entire event in less than three minutes through the magic of time-lapse video.

From dawn on graduation morning through the breakdown of the Cistern Yard stage, this fast-forward footage makes the whole production look easy. But make no mistake: the College’s nationally unique and picturesque commencement is a colossal undertaking.

Virtually every unit of campus and hundreds of faculty, staff and students have a hand in the planning and execution of this very special event, says Jonathan Ray, director of institutional events and chef concierge.

“This year, between the undergraduate and graduate ceremonies, we had more than 15,000 people on campus. That includes graduates, parents, guests, and people at our four satellite viewing locations,” says Ray. “It’s a huge production, and there are many hard-working people involved behind the scenes. But it all comes together and it always looks seamless and beautiful.”
