The College of Charleston continued its exciting run through the NCAA postseason with a 6-3 win over Long Beach State on Saturday, May 31, 2014.

The win advances the College to the Gainesville Regional title round where the Cougars will have two chances to win one game to advance to a Super Regional.

Charleston will face the winner of the UNC-Long Beach State game, which will be played Monday at noon due to rain delays over the weekend. The Cougars will face the winner of that game about one hour after its completion. The game is available on ESPN3.com or ESPN 910 AM radio in Charleston. If the Cougars lose, they will have another opportunity to win the regional in a second game.

With Saturday’s victory, the College (43-17) becomes the only four seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament to advance to the Regional final.

The Cougars picked up the victory behind the 11th quality start from Bailey Ober (10-2) this season. Ober went seven innings and gave up three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts to pick up his 10th win of the season. Ober and teammate Taylor Clarke have become the first pair of 10-game winners on the same team in program history and one of only two NCAA teams with two 10-game winners this season.

The College has now advanced to a regional final in four of six trips to the NCAA Tournament. The last time the Cougars won an NCAA regional was in 2006 when the Cougars defeated Kentucky to win the Lexington Regional and advance to the Super Regionals.
