To hear Barney Holt tell it, the once isolated Dixie Plantation is poised to “explode” with students wandering the 881-acre Hollywood property.
That follows a concerted effort by the College of Charleston to improve the plantation so that college and grade-school students can experience what Holt, director of property management for the College of Charleston Foundation, calls a “living laboratory.”
