Issue 30 of Illuminations Magazine.

The release of issue 30 marks a second re-launch of this internationally known literary magazine under the editorship of English Professor Simon Lewis, who previously edited the magazine from 1997 to 2011.

The new issue features cover art by Illuminations’ founder-editor Peter McMillan, who teaches art, writing, poetry and translation at Kyorin University in Tokyo, Japan.

Since its first appearance in Columbia, S.C., in 1982, Illuminations has been edited from Japan, England, and Tanzania, before returning to South Carolina under Lewis’s editorship in 1996.

Among its highest-profile writers Illuminations has published the work of three Literature Nobelists (Seamus Heaney, Joseph Brodsky and Nadine Gordimer) and two Peace Prize-winners (Desmond Tutu and climate-scientist Chris Magadza). The magazine has run special issues on writing from South Africa, Vietnam, Cuba, Haiti, Zimbabwe, and Greece, and has featured prominent photographers and artists, such as Simon Norfolk and David Hockney, as well as interviews with poets and writers such as Athol Fugard and Tim O’Brien.
