Ashley Fabian ’13 performs as “Laetitia” in Gian Carlo Menotti’s “The Old Maid and the Thief.”

Ashley Fabian ’13 had a few things to do this summer before heading off to the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music for graduate school. First on her list was performing at Piccolo Spoleto, the annual arts festival that accompanies Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston. Then Fabian headed west to Colorado, performing as a Young Artist for Central City Opera.

The award-winning soprano knows how to stay busy. After graduating from the College as a vocal performance major, Fabian returned to earn her artist’s certificate in opera. Meanwhile, she began a singing career by working as a music director for the Charleston Youth Company and as a voice teacher for the Charleston Academy of Music.

The faculty and staff at the College’s School of the Arts regard Fabian as one of their “star alums,” proudly noting how the esteemed vocalist has won several national and regional competitions, such as second place in the national Orpheus Vocal Competition and third place in the national FAVA Grand Concourse Competition.
