The spring 2016 issue of College of Charleston Magazine is on its way! Landing in mailboxes this week, this issue gives new voice to the College of Charleston story, its characters, vision and impact. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s to come.

The Craft

This issue’s cover features Ryan Coker ’05, one of the three CofC alumni leading South Carolina’s craft brewery movement. Over the past decade, these entrepreneurial pioneers have managed to take the craft beer industry from dry to hopping in the Palmetto State – and to brew up some serious success for themselves, as well.

Spirit Animal

Sure, we’re all Cougars at heart. But only a few among us know what it’s really like to play – and dress – the part. The part of Clyde, that is. For the alumni who have brought our mascot to life over the years, having Cougar spirit isn’t so much something you have, but something you become. This story reveals just a few of the faces behind Clyde, the face of Cougar spirit for more than 30 years.

Lift as You Climb

Jasmine Twitty ’10 has a style her own – and, considering that she’s one of the youngest associate judges in South Carolina, it seems to suit her well. This story shows how the right education, the right attitude and, of course, the right outfit can lead you to places you never knew you’d go.

A Flying Start

Robert Blank ’11 was aiming high. He knew it wasn’t easy to get a business off the ground. He knew how many startups get shot down before they’re even up and running. But he also knew he had an idea that could really take off. And, after five months in a business incubator, his lifesaving drone startup is flying high.

These featured articles are just the beginning. This issue of College of Charleston Magazine – just like the College itself – has so much more to offer, so much more to celebrate. We’re excited to celebrate with you.
