The College of Charleston Board of Trustees voted to approve a tuition increase of 3.5 percent for both in-state and out-of-state undergraduate and graduate students for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Beginning in the fall of 2016, in-state undergraduate students will pay $5,693 per semester. Out-of-state undergraduate students will pay $14,772 per semester.
Tuition for graduate students will be $6,262 per semester for in-state residents and $16,249 per semester for out-of-state residents.
“We recognize that any increase in the cost of attending the College of Charleston is a matter of tremendous importance to our students and their families,” said Greg Padgett, chair of the College’s Board of Trustees. “The board has carefully considered these tuition adjustments in the context of our current budget and our university strategic plan, and we believe that they are necessary in order to maintain the high quality and prestige of our academic programs and student services.”
As a result of the increase for undergraduate students, the College will likely continue to rank 6th for in-state tuition and 4th for out-of-state tuition among South Carolina’s 13 four-year public universities.
