Several athletic events will be open to faculty and staff for free under the new Cultural Passport Program.

President Glenn F. McConnell ’69 announced the College Cultural Passport Program at the College’s 24th annual Back-to-School Picnic for staff and faculty on Aug. 16, 2016.

“The idea is pretty simple,” McConnell said. A collaboration between the President’s Office, Academic Affairs, Athletics, the School of the Arts and the Division of Marketing and Communications, the College Cultural Passport Program is designed to increase attendance for campus events and “to encourage more faculty and staff to take advantage of the College’s ‘life of the mind’ by attending events that showcase our talented students, faculty and alumni in the areas of the arts, athletics and academics.”

Starting this fall, all performance-based events (except men’s basketball games) that feature members of the College of Charleston community will be part of the College Cultural Passport Program. Most events will be free for faculty and staff and one guest. When staff and faculty attend an event, they can report their attendance through the MyCharleston portal. Faculty and staff who attend six events or more will be designated as “College Cultural Ambassadors” and will be honored at the end of the spring semester.

For more information and a list of qualifying events, visit the Cultural Passport Program website. Additional details will be sent to faculty and staff through campus email in the near future.
