If it’s mid-February in Charleston, it must be Darwin Week at the College of Charleston (Feb. 12-17).

Every year, the College joins a number of sponsors to celebrate the life of Charles Darwin and his contributions to science by hosting a thought-provoking, weeklong series of guest speakers.

This year’s presenters include the College’s own Professor Phil Manning, who will speak about “Darwin’s Dilemma” on Monday and Tuesday, and Robert Dudley from the University of California at Berkeley, who will give a talk entitled “The Drunken Monkey: Is Alcoholism in Modern Humans an Evolutionary Hangover?” on Wednesday.

The weeklong celebration began with a Darwin Birthday Bash on Sunday evening and continues each day through Friday. See the full schedule of activities here.
