Think of it as part variety show, part activism, part education, but 100 percent inclusive.

The Women’s and Gender Studies program at the College of Charleston will host Incluza-Palooza at the Stern Center Ballroom at 6 p.m. on March 24, 2017.

Incluza-Palooza was created to promote inclusion among all Americans in the wake of the 2016 presidential election.

“I feel it is important to have this event to help a newer generation of student and community activists connect with established advocacy organizations who are already doing the work they want to do,” says Women and Gender Studies Professor Amy Hudock

The program will bring together local performers, community members, college students, and activists for a fun and positive evening to honor the rich diversity of Charleston. Entertainment for the night will include music, comedy, and spoken word.

Junior Anfernee Robinson will perform his original piece Small House & Joy & Happiness; theatre professor Joy Vandervort-Cobb will perform And Still I Rise (written by Maya Angelou). Renard Harris, Interim Director for the Office of Diversity is the Master of Ceremony for the evening.

Incluza-Palooza will also host tables from 17 community organizations, including the College’s Safe Campus Outreach Prevention and Education Peer Team — also known as S.C.O.P.E.

Proceeds from the $5 suggested donations will be divided among the attending organizations.
