Give your mind a break from exams with free yoga sessions.

It’s that time of year again: crowds of students are cramming for finals in Addlestone Library —  and puppies are on campus to keep bleary-eyed Cougars from stressing too much.

The College of Charleston’s end-of-semester Cougar Countdown begins on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, with a bevy of activities aimed at giving students academic, physical and emotional support as well as a little fun until the last day of exams on May 5.

Lindy Coleman, director of the Center for Student Learning and Cougar Countdown’s lead organizer, says that the event was created to encourage wellness during what is usually a very hectic time for most students.

“Living in the library 24/7, fueled by coffee, massive cramming sessions….these all seemed to be the norm, and we knew that students were not performing or functioning at their best in this state,” she says. “We brainstormed and pooled resources to create a series of free study breaks that encouraged a healthy mind and a healthy body.”

Events this year include past mainstays such as free coffee and snacks at Rivers Green, yoga, Zumba, walk-in tutoring and, yes, 18 therapy dogs will be on campus ready to paw away stress. President Glenn McConnell ’69 will also be joining in on the festivities, dipping ice cream for students during “Chill on the Green” on Monday, May 1.
