There was a very important status update on the Facebook page of Pounce Cat Cafe this week: “Well, the cat’s out of the bag.  See mew this fall, Savannah!”

Charleston’s only cat cafe will be expanding after less than a year in business on Meeting Street.

Co-owners of Pounce, Ashley Brooks ’14 and Annaliese Hughes ’14, met during their freshman year as students in the Honors College at the College of Charleston. Once they discovered that they had a mutual affinity for felines, they became the best of friends. That love of cuddly kittens eventually lead to the duo bringing the first cat cafe to the Lowcountry. The concept was an instant success — everyone wanted to cuddle Pounce’s adorable attractions and over 239 cats found new homes.

Brooks and Hughes hope to recreate the same cat magic in Georgia, Brooks told Savannah Business.

“This concept has really taken off in Charleston, and with very similar cultures and vibes, we know a cat cafe will do well in Savannah, too,” Brooks told the Savannah Morning News

Look for the second cafe to open sometime this fall.
