The College of Charleston has been named as one of the top schools in the South Region in the annual U.S. News and World Report 2018 Best Colleges rankings.

U.S. News also ranked the College of Charleston No. 2 among regional public universities in the South for “A Strong Commitment to Teaching.” This category recognizes “schools where the faculty has an unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching,” according to the magazine.

The College of Charleston was also listed as an “A-Plus School for B Students” among regional universities in the South.

Institutions are ranked on more than a dozen measures of academic quality, emphasizing important student outcomes such as graduation and retention rates.

Last month, the Princeton Review recognized the College of Charleston as a top school in the U.S. for undergraduate education.
