The College’s Department of German and Russian Studies is partnering with Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC, to host the third annual Lowcountry German Day on Friday, (Oct. 6, 2017. Over 220 high school students from schools across the Palmetto State will descend on the College to learn about the advantages and opportunities of studying German at the College.

These students will enjoy an interactive lesson in German given by department chair and professor Morgan Koerner. They’ll also participate in a panel discussion that will be highlighted by employees from Mercedes-Benz who are also CofC alumni. In addition, these students will partake in a lunch session interacting with current students and alumni who have studied or interned abroad and will share their experiences.

According to Koerner, “This event will demonstrate the level of innovation and entrepreneurship that German industry is currently displaying in South Carolina and the Southeast. It will also encourage students to prepare better for that workforce by thinking ahead of the curve.”
