The long, hot days of summer are upon us – but don’t let them go to the dogs! There are plenty of fun, active and educational ways to keep your kids busy this summer – some of them right here on the College of Charleston campus! Whether you’re looking for summer activities for your kids or a little breather for yourself, the College is offering summer camps for everyone!

 Charleston Soccer Academy Day Camps 

Held at the Patriots Point Athletics Complex and led by CofC coaches and current/former CofC players, the Charleston Soccer Academy camps are open to boys and girls and offer a fun and challenging environment suited for every ability and skill level.

Petite Feet Day Camps: This camp is a fun-filled entry-level introduction to soccer for boys and girls and requires no previous experience playing soccer.

Elite Girls Residential Camp: Available to commuters and residential campers, this camp is designed for female soccer players who are serious about the sport and want a taste of what they can expect at the next level.

Camp Art Attack

Taught by College of Charleston M.A.T. students, Camp Art Attack is held on the CofC campus and provides an arts-based STEAM educational program that allows campers to explore playfully and embrace the opportunity to learn.

Honors College Summer Institute

Held on the College of Charleston campus, the Honors College Summer Institute draws upon a range of disciplines, bringing together a diverse group of high school students for a fun academic and intellectual experience.

Computing in the Movies:  In this experiential course, students will watch and analyze movie scenes to understand how computers contribute to key aspects of film such as story, composition and editing. Activities include drawing storyboards, using virtual 3D scene–editing software and exploring the roles of performers and camera operators.

Race, Culture, and Stories of Illness:  In this interdisciplinary, hands-on class, students will explore stories of how race and culture are intertwined with healthcare in America and will visit the College’s Avery Research Center as well as local hospice providers, disability advocates and doctors.

With Liberty and Justice for All: Deconstructing the American Promise: In this interdisciplinary, experiential course on social justice in contemporary America, students will discuss what constitutes a just society; tackle issues such as education, housing, food security and employment; and actually work to enact change.

Summer STEAM Institute 

Held in partnership with the arts nonprofit Engaging Creative Minds, the Summer STEAM Institute is led by veteran teachers and College of Charleston Department of Teacher Education graduates before they enter classrooms in the fall. It offers campers engaging activities that incorporate STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) curriculum and athletics to foster imagination, collaboration and creativity.

Carolina Jams!: Week 1 campers work with computer software to produce an original song on their very own CD.

The Force Is With Us!: With Jedi training games, sci-fi skits and planetary juggling, week 2 campers will explore scientific concepts of motion, gravity and friction, and will design a spacecraft.

Held at the College of Charleston’s J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., the College’s Learn to Sail program offers a variety of summer camps and classes for youth and adults alike. The following still have openings:

Youth STEM Camps: The College’s Sailing Youth STEM Camps are geared to teach children the science, technology, engineering and math behind sailing.
