Charleston Miracle’s first-ever FT5K Color Run took place on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018. All proceeds from the run will support the campaign for the new Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, which will open in 2019 on the corner of Calhoun Street and Courtenay Drive.

Charleston Miracle, College of Charleston’s Dance Marathon organization, is the largest student-run philanthropy group at the College. The organization holds events each school year to engage both the campus and larger community in raising awareness and funds for the Children’s Hospital.

Becca Mandell, fundraising director for Charleston Miracle and a senior marketing major at the College, says that over 300 people signed up for the Color Run, where more than $2,000 was raised. Over the past 12 years, the organization has raised around $740,000 to support the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

The FT5K Color Run took place at Laurel Hill County Park in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where families of children treated at the hospital spoke to participants.
