Got some spare time? Join the College of Charleston’s Faculty and Staff Bowling League for the spring 2020 season!
CofC staff and faculty have until Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, to register as a team or a player for this semester’s Faculty and Staff Bowling League, organized by Campus Recreation Services. Due to limited lane availability, only the first 10 teams to register can be accepted.

The season will begin Feb. 21 and will run through approximately April 17, 2020, with teams competing on Fridays from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m. at Ashley Bowling Lanes in West Ashley. The cost is $13.35 per person for three games (shoes included), and a full-service snack bar is available. This fun league has a handicap scoring system to equalize play, so all players will be able to help their teams win, regardless of their skill level.
A team consists of 4–12 people. While only four may compete each week, the other team members are encouraged to join in and cheer on their teammates. It is recommended that teams have more than four members to avoid being caught shorthanded, especially since some individuals cannot commit to 8–9 weeks of play. Spouses of faculty and staff members are invited to join as well.
To register, the team captain must email Freddie Lipata, assistant director of Campus Recreation Services, with the team name and list of team members by the Feb. 17 deadline. Those who wish to participate but don’t have a team to join don’t have to strike out on their own: They can simply let Lipata know they’re interested, and he’ll get the ball rolling!
