To honor the victims of last year's tragedy at Emanuel A.M.E. Church, Charleston developer Michael Bennett established the "Mother" Emanuel A.M.E. Endowed Scholarship for minority students from the Charleston peninsula to attend the College of Charleston. The scholarship will be awarded for the first time this fall.

The College of Charleston's Campus Recreation Services provided a two-month Bridge Run Training Program for staff, faculty and students. Participants had access to their own coach/trainer. The program also provided group runs and three timed runs that assessed their progress.
