Ben Johnson '13 took his College of Charleston bachelor's degree in computer science all the way to Google's Irvine, Calif. office, where he works as a software engineer. As a student, he interned for two local tech companies, co-founded an app and competed in coding competitions hosted by international companies. Sarah Somes โ€™13 knew as a sophomore at the College of Charleston that she wanted to study urban planning and take what she learned back home, to Detroit, Mich. (she grew up in nearby Grosse Pointe). She is now one of 31 fellows (chosen from 700 applicants) at Challenge Detroit, a leadership and professional development program that invites tomorrow's leaders to live, work, play, give and lead in and around the greater Detroit area for one year.

As the Assistant Web Developer for Time Inc., Murray optimizes parts of the website for interactivity. Michelle Bloom โ€˜13 walked across the Cistern and into the White House between May and September, 2013. An honors student and political science and international studies double major, she was always interested in politics but never quite sure how to break in. Volunteer experience and a conversation with her parents led her to apply to the White House fall internship program, and with this incredible experience under her belt, things are only looking up.
