College of Charleston junior Jordan Thomas will be featured on several CNN programs on August 27 and 28, 2009. Jordan is scheduled to appear on the “Larry King Live” program on August 27th and will be featured on “CNN Heroes with Anderson Cooper” on August 28th.

Jordan is the founder of The Jordan Thomas Foundation, which provides prosthetic devices for underserved children and adolescents with amputations. The Foundation also offers support and counseling for individuals, families and advocates for equality in facing the visible challenges of life.
Jordan started the foundation after he lost both feet in a boating accident in 2005. Since then, the Foundation has raised over $350,000 through the sale of bracelets, charity golf tournaments and cookouts.

He is also active in advocating for change in the way insurance companies cover prosthetics and orthotics. His advocacy has been instrumental in bringing the issue to national attention.
Earlier this year, the Minnesota-based Courage Center presented Jordan with its National Courage Award . The annual award recognizes an individual’s contributions to the health, welfare and rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
