Dr. John  Bello-Ogunu has been named the  new Associate Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer at the College of Charleston.

He came to the College from Wichita State University, where he served as Associate Dean of Students and Director of Multicultural Affairs.  During that period, he was also an Associate Professor of Communications at the University. He has also held senior faculty positions at various institutions including Auburn University and Oakland University.

He recently served as a member of the Board of Directors for the City of Wichita Global Learning Center and as a member of the Advisory Council for the Diversity Kansas Organization.

Bello-Ogunu has received various awards including the leadership award from The Brothers of the Academy for his contributions to Diversity Education and for his leadership in managing and promoting all-inclusive institutional diversity at Auburn University.

Bello-Ogunu received his doctorate in Speech Communication from Ohio University.
