Mallory Factor, a national opinion maker in economics and finance, will speak at the College of Charleston’s School of Business on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.  His presentation, Death By Debt: The End of America The Great, is open to the public and will foster engaging audience dialogue.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. in the Wachovia Auditorium located in the School of Business Beatty Center on Liberty Street.

The event is funded by the Initiative for Public Choice and Market Process that was founded in 2008 with a generous gift from the BB&T Charitable Foundation and the Charles G. Koch Foundation.

CofC employees, students, the business community and other Charleston area residents are invited to the speaking engagement to gain insight into Factor’s prediction for our economic future and the implications of uncontrolled debt on our country’s viability.

“Students are our leaders of tomorrow.  It’s important that they understand how our government’s current and expanding debt affects them, their families, and their future,” says Factor, president of Mallory Factor, Inc., an independent merchant bank and financial relations consultancy.  “I want the Charleston community and all of South Carolina to understand that uncontrolled debt will change our American way of life if we don’t control it.  We need to control it now,” warns Factor.

Factor is the moderator of the S.C. gubernatorial candidates debate held on January 28, 2010 at the Gaillard Auditorium.

Factor and his associates advise companies in a wide range of industries including biotechnology, financial services and manufacturing.  He also developed products for the hedge fund industry for over 20 years.

He is the founder and co-chair of the Monday Meeting, a nationally-recognized gathering of elected officials, journalists, business leaders and conservative authors in NYC.  Previously, he served as chairman of the Free Enterprise Fund, a free market “do” tank advocating economic growth, lower taxes and limited government.
