The College of Charleston is once again recognized in the Charleston City Paper’s “Best Of” Awards. A College professor, alumni and new venue were voted as “Best Of” by readers, while several student initiatives and buildings were noted “Best Of” by City Paper staffers.

Best Local Clothing Designer: Carol Hannah Whitfield ’07. Carol Hannah graduated from the College of Charleston in 2007 and was a finalist on Project Runway: Season 6.
Best Jazz Band – Quentin Baxter Jazz Ensemble. Quentin is a music professor at the College.
Best Reason to Just Dance – Gaga Day. College of Charleston students organized the 30-minute dance-a-thon on Marion Square as a fundraiser for Haiti. Watch the video.
Best Way to Tap Into Your Inner Carl Sagan – Rita Liddy Holings Science Center. The Department of Astronomy holds free observation nights on the first Friday of each month.
Best New Digs – The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art
Best Miracle on Meeting Street – The Cougars Defeat the Tar Heels. Watch “College of Charleston Rocks UNC: The Making of an Upset.”
