The College of Charleston’s Accepted Student Weekend attracted more than 3,000 people, including 1,050 students accepted to the College for fall 2010. Watch a video of the weekend’s activities.

Students traveled from as far away as Arizona, California, Vermont, Connecticut and Maine, with 60 percent coming from out of state. They mingled with students from as close as Charleston, James Island and Summerville.

Of the 1,050 students, 276 are interested in the School of Sciences and Mathematics, 232 are interested in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, 170 are interested in the School of Business, 112 are interested in the School of Education, Health, and Human Performance, 54 are interested in the School of the Arts and 15 are interested in the School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs.

Throughout the weekend, they toured residence halls and off-campus facilities (including Grice Marine Lab and the Patriots Point Sports Complex), explored the City of Charleston, attended mini-lectures and a student organization fair.

“I knew Accepted Student Weekend was a success when I saw students texting their parents to buy them a t-shirt or put down a deposit to hold their place at the College,” said Director of Freshman Admissions Jimmie Foster, Jr. “We achieved our goal of giving accepted students the opportunity to spend time with us and get a real feel for the College of Charleston experience.”

The next event for students to check out campus is the Open House, scheduled for Saturday, April 17. Campus tours are also held twice a day, Monday through Friday.
