Open house

The College of Charleston will host an open house for more than 600 prospective students and their families 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. April 17.

The event will start with an information fair at the Carolina First Arena, followed by breakout activities held across campus.

Students and their families will have the opportunity to discuss academic programs with faculty, learn about student services, take tours of campus and visit residence halls.

Arts advocacy

Charleston Student Advocates for the Arts will host its second annual Arts Advocacy Day 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. April 17 at the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, 161 Calhoun St.

The event is designed to bring the college and city together to talk about the arts and how to advocate for them. The event is free and open to the public. Reservations can be made by e-mailing cofcartsadvocates@gmail.com. Refreshments will be provided.
