College of Charleston provost George Hynd said the college has taken many actions to compensate for cuts but that he’s particularly concerned about the impact on faculty members.
The college has some great faculty members, he said, who are not being paid well. They are taking on more teaching responsibility and have less time for scholarship and research, he said. He’s concerned the college will lose some of its best faculty members to other institutions. “We have faculty that would be superstars anywhere in the country,” he said.
