The College of Charleston’s baseball team will take on North Carolina State  University tonight in the first game of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The game will be held in Myrtle Beach.  Sophomore David Peterson will set the first pitch at 7:00p.m.  The game will stream live at www.GoCCUsports.com and ESPN Radio’s Ted Byrne will deliver a play by play of the action.

A 42-game winning season is to thank for the Cougars appearance in the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional. Matt Leeds, the SoCon player of the year leads Charleston with 20 home runs and 81 runs batted in.  The Cougars are the second seed in the Myrtle Beach Regional.

“The team is doing really well down the stretch but there is going to be a tough test ahead of us,” says head coach Monty Lee.

Starting pitcher, David Peterson is confident that the team is prepared for whomever the Cougars face.

This will be the Cougar’s first return to the tournament since 2006.
