Joy Vandervort-Cobb

Joy Vandervort-Cobb, 49, can tell you the exact moment she realized that she wanted to be an actor. It occurred in the fourth grade.

“I played Heidi,” said Vandervort-Cobb, adding with a laugh, “yes, that one! I was on the Alps picking flowers for my grandfather, and I loved it. I did this whole Bill Cosby rip. My classmates were rolling and I was like, ‘Oh, I like this, I like this.’ I was a star and I’ve been smitten ever since.”

Vandervort-Cobb is a faculty member at the College of Charleston and recently starred in a one-woman cabaret show, “Moments of Joy,” presented by Piccolo Spoleto for the second year running.
