Without the photographic proof, it could have been just another entry in the vast lore of far-fetched fish stories. But Tuesday’s front-page picture of a 45-inch redfish caught in Colonial Lake last week cast credibility on that stunning angling feat by College of Charleston senior Marcus Taylor. And the realization that this downtown denizen of the “deep” was lurking in such shallow water is a reminder that in these fishing-friendly parts, you don’t need a boat to land a big one.
Mr. Taylor told our reporter that after he launched his line about 30 yards out with a live finger mullet on the hook, “that big ol’ bull red came by and yanked it up.”
