The College of Charleston has been ranked #4 among public colleges and universities in the South in the 2011 edition of Best Colleges by U.S. News Media Group.

U.S. News also ranked the College of Charleston #6 on the “Up and Comers” regional universities list. This list was created after the magazine asked college administrators to list institutions that they think have recently made the most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty, student life, campus, or facilities.

The College of Charleston was the only South Carolina institution to make the regional universities list.

The exclusive rankings, which include rankings of more than 1,400 schools nationwide, are available today at www.usnews.com/colleges, and will also be published in the September issue of U.S.News & World Report, on newsstands starting August 31.

Earlier this month, The Princeton Review named the College of Charleston one of the country’s best institutions for undergraduate education.

The Review praised the College for its “prime location and relatively low tuition.”
