Robert Taylor, director of choral activities at the College of Charleston, is preparing the choirs.

This summer, the College of Charleston and the Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts sponsored a series of public forums to “address the future of symphonic music in Charleston.”

A steering committee co-chaired by College of Charleston President George Benson and Blackbaud President Marc Chardon now is culling through the responses of about 400 participants and researching the way other communities present classical music. The committee was expected to deliver its recommendations last month, but more time is needed and the report is likely to be delivered in late October or early November, Laura Deaton, a consultant for the initiative, told symphony board members last week.
