The College of Charleston men’s and women’s basketball teams will officially commence the 2010-11 season with Maroon Madness presented by Coke Zero on Friday, Oct. 15, at Carolina First Arena.
The annual kick-off event is free to the public and doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The evening will include skills competitions, three-point shooting contests, dance skits, scrimmages, team introductions, giveaways and an autograph session with both teams.
The Cougar men return three of their top four leading scorers from last year’s squad which went 22-12 overall and reached the second round of the College Basketball Invitational under legendary head coach Bobby Cremins.
Meanwhile, the Cougar women are coming off one of their most successful seasons in program history, recording its second-straight 20-win season and advancing to the regional finals of the Women’s Basketball Invitational under head coach Nancy Wilson.
The Cougar Basketball box office will be open to allow fans their first opportunity to purchase single-game men’s tickets with the exception of the Clemson game.
Men’s basketball season tickets are also still available for purchase and are priced at $210 (all reserve seating) to the general public, while CofC faculty and staff receive a 20 percent discount for men’s season tickets priced at $168.
