The College of Charleston is participating in Capital BookFest, a free, one-day literary festival on November 6 at the Charleston County Public Library. As part of The College Reads! and Literary Outreach Initiative, students are volunteering at the event and many professors are featured authors. The event is being held from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Free parking is provided at the Aquarium garage.

Hundreds of writers, poets, & childrens book authors are presenting exciting and informative readings, panel discussions, storytelling and interactive conversations. The goal is to celebrate literature and promote literacy with a mission of strengthening families through reading.

Look for Actress Victoria Rowell, Chefs Nathalie Dupree & Holly Herrick, Acclaimed Writers Dori Sanders, Jack Bass, Bret Lott, SC Poet Laureate Marjory Wentworth, Poets Ellie Davis, Linda Ferguson, Carol Ann Davis and Marcus Amaker, Acclaimed Poet/Activists Sonia Sanchez & Haki Madhubuti, Roscoe Orman (Gordon from Sesame Street), SC Authors Beth Webb Hart, Nicole Seitz, Cleo Scott Brown, AlTonya Washington, Sheila Martina, Savannah Frierson, 18 year-old Novelist Noni Carter, and many more of your favorite writers.

Capital BookFest has been operating since 2005, and has expanded to three cities: Largo, MD; Harrisburg, PA and Charleston, SC. This is the first year Capital BookFest has been presented in Charleston.
