The College of Charleston’s 29th Annual High School Computer Programming Competition will take place on February 25, 2011 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. in J.C. Long room 220. More than a dozen teams from North Carolina and South Carolina will compete, focusing on the technical and artistic quality of their solutions. The competition also promotes the fun aspects of competition and creates an infrastructure that supports success.
The Python (3) computer programming language will be used by teams of three to solve presented problems and introduce their solutions in to the supplied program. Each problem also directs the teams to provide test inputs and outputs as well as documentation for their solution.
“Success in computer science requires innovation,” says Jim Bowring, competition organizer and computer science professor. “This competition is an opportunity for students to test their ability and perform under pressure – while working as a team to devise innovative solutions. We want students who will gravitate to life-long learning, skilled problem-solving, and the pursuit of quality to participate in the competition.”
