In just four years, Georgestock has become a tradition at the College of Charleston. The festival-style event is always held the Sunday before the start of fall classes and enables both new and returning students to meet-up and interact at a free event. Watch highlights of the event.

This year’s event will be at the Carolina First Arena on Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.  New York-based DJ PS1 will provide non-stop music and the program will also feature performances by student organizations.  A variety of novelty experiences will allow students be interact with one another and allow first-year students to become more familiar with campus and serve as an introduction to College life.

“This is the best way to welcome more than 3,000 new and returning students to campus,” says Susan Payment, director of student life. “Plus it gets them excited for the other great events that we’ll host throughout the year.”

Georgestock is sponsored by the Office of Student Life, Office of Residence Life and Housing, New Student Programs, Cougar Activities Board, Student Government Association, Greek Life and Athletics.
