Faculty in the School of Sciences and Mathematics are awarded more than $3 million in NSF science grants, including $2.2 million for professor Gavin Naylor to study shark biting habits.
John Tisdale ’86 was one of six alumni to receive awards of achievement. He made a breakthrough in the treatment of sickle cell disease.
New York Yankee Brett Gardner ’05 lead the American League in stolen bases.

Baseball player Daniel Aldrich won the 2011 Home Run Derby and was named Collegiate Baseball National Freshman Player of the Year.
Basketball player Andrew Goudelock was drafted to NBA (2nd player in school history), won the Mercedes Benz 3-point contest and was named SoCon Male Athlete of the Year.
Men’s basketball makes it to NIT quarterfinals (longest postseason run in program history), hosted the first NIT game in the TD Arena and won the SoCon regular season title.
SoCon Coaches of the Year – Bobby Cremins (m. basketball), Angelo Anastopoulo (w. tennis).
SoCon Players of the Year – Cole Dawley (volleyball), Andrew Goudelock (basketball).
Four sailors were named ICSA All-Americans.
SoCon Conference Champions – Volleyball, Men’s Soccer, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Tennis, Men’s Tennis.
