More than 60 College of Charleston fraternity members will work together to help Habitat for Humanity remodel a cottage-style home at 159 Romney Street in Charleston. On April 19 and 20, 2012, 30 fraternity members will be on site in two shifts from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Watch a video.

This is the first year that the College’s Inter-Fraternity Council has done a hands-on service project, though philanthropy plays a major role in fraternity life and giving back to the Charleston community is their main priority. All fraternities on campus are very active in philanthropy and raise thousands of dollars for different non-profit organizations.

“We decided to partner with the Charleston Habitat for Humanity because we thought it would be a great way for fraternity members to give back to the community,” says Blake Wilson, IFC Philanthropy and Service Chair. “On top of that, our hope is that fraternity members will bond with each other and meet members they may not know while being immersed in the Charleston community.”
