Retired Michelin North America Chairman and President Richard Wilkerson will be the featured speaker at the Graduate School of the College of Charleston spring commencement ceremony on May 11, 2012. The ceremony will be held in the College of Charleston TD Arena at 5:30 p.m.
During his three-year tenure as chairman and president, Wilkerson was responsible for the financial results and coordination of all operations of the Michelin Group in North America (United States, Canada, and Mexico) and was chairman of the internal executive board for this geographic zone. He was also a member of the worldwide executive board of the Michelin Group.
Previously, Wilkerson was Executive Vice President of Personnel for Michelin North America. In that role, Wilkerson also was responsible for the Environment and Prevention department (EP).
He spent over 30 years with Michelin in manufacturing and personnel positions in the United States, France and Scotland. Before his position in Personnel, he was Chief Operating Officer for the company’s North American Specialty Tire Product Lines. He previously had served as head of Michelin’s Earthmover tire business in North America and head of the Earthmover original equipment business worldwide.
Over 130 students will receive degrees during the ceremony.
