Two College of Charleston professors have received a $334,630, three-year grant from the National Science Foundation to study the environmental fate of pharmaceuticals .

Chemistry professor Wendy Cory and geology professor Vijay Vulava will study the impact of common pain and allergy medications now being detected in water sources around the world.

The results of their study could lead to more effective ways to remove the compounds during wastewater treatment.
