The College of Charleston men’s basketball team will make its third all-time appearance in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) presented by Buick under first-year head coach Doug Wojcik.
The Cougars (24-10) will play host to George Mason (18-14) out of the Colonial Athletic Association on Tuesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. at TD Arena. They lead 3-1 in the all-time series with the Colonials having last met in December of 2011 (L, 76-84) in Charleston as a return game of both teams’ ESPN BracketBusters matchup in 2010. College of Charleston will join George Mason as a member of the CAA on July 1.
“We are thrilled to be able to play in the postseason,” Wojcik said. “Looking at all of the teams that made the NIT field, Kentucky, Virginia, Alabama and Tennessee, we are fortunate to be playing in the CBI and are excited for the opportunity to continue our season.”
College of Charleston reached the quarterfinals of the tournament in 2009 and 2010 under former head coach Bobby Cremins. Wojcik led the University of Tulsa to the inaugural CBI title defeating Bradley in the best of three-game series in 2008.
Tickets are available for purchase for $15 general admission and College of Charleston students will be admitted free with a valid student ID. Fans can purchase CBI tickets in advance of the game by calling the CofC Athletics Ticket Office at (843) 953-COFC, in-person at the TD Arena Box Office or online at www.cofcsports.com/tickets.
