Members of Kappa Alpha Order at the College of Charleston chapter helped to plan the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s fundraising Muscle Walk, and raised nearly $3,000.

“Our chapter is focusing more on philanthropy year-round,” explains Chapter President Teddy Rodts. “We talk about it constantly and want to get more involved on campus and in the community. It is very important to our brothers and more members are engaged in the fundraising than years past.”

Not only did five members volunteer their time to help put on the walk, their fundraising participation gained $2,692 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and their team’s earnings were the second highest team earnings for the event.

Team Kappa Alpha set a fundraising goal of $2,200. Besting their goal by 20 percent, they raised $2,692 total and received praise from the Colleen Harvey, the Charleston MDA chapter executive director. According to Harvey’s letter of commendation to the Kappa Alphas, “Their efforts helped send three children to MDA’s Summer Camp – at $800 per child.”
